Both SMILE Pro and FemtoLASIK are among the most advanced laser vision correction procedures available today. Each has its own advantages, healing characteristics, and technical strengths.
For this reason, there is no single procedure that is ideal for everyone.
How do we make the decision?
Before surgery, every patient undergoes a comprehensive eye examination and detailed diagnostic measurements.
One of the most important factors is obtaining the most accurate astigmatism measurements.
For this purpose, we use advanced diagnostic technologies including:
- Zeiss IOLMaster 700
- Alcon Topolyzer Vario
The IOLMaster 700 plays an important role in planning SMILE Pro treatments, while the Topolyzer provides highly detailed corneal topography that is particularly valuable for FemtoLASIK planning.
We compare all measurements carefully.
If one method is expected to provide more accurate astigmatism correction for a particular patient, that procedure becomes our preferred choice.
Preserving corneal tissue is equally important.
Visual quality is only one part of the decision.
Long-term corneal safety is another essential consideration.
We evaluate:
- Which procedure removes less corneal tissue.
- Which leaves a thicker and stronger residual stromal bed.
Whenever possible, we select the procedure that offers the greatest long-term structural safety without compromising visual quality.
Experience matters.
Technology alone does not determine the outcome.
The surgeon’s experience is equally important.
