As the <strong>founder of the first private eye hospital in \u0130zmir<\/strong>, he has been at the forefront of ophthalmic innovation, particularly in cataract, refractive, and keratopigmentation surgery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udf93<\/strong><strong> Academic Excellence &amp; Early Recognition<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ranked first in \u0130zmir College entrance exams and won a national academic competition in 1967.<\/li>\n<li>Studied in the U.S. with an AFS scholarship, graduated from \u0130zmir College in 1970, and earned his medical degree from Ege University in 1976.<\/li>\n<li>Became an associate professor in 1986 and a full professor in 1998.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udc41<\/strong><strong> Pioneer in Ophthalmology<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduced <strong>modern cataract surgery (phacoemulsification)<\/strong> to \u0130zmir in 1994.<\/li>\n<li>Performed \u0130zmir\u2019s <strong>first intraocular lens implantation (1984)<\/strong> and <strong>first vitrectomy surgeries (1988)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Founded \u0130zmir\u2019s <strong>first laser eye center<\/strong> in 1992.<\/li>\n<li>Authored two influential surgical video atlases in 1990 and 1994.<\/li>\n<li>Pioneered <strong>keratopigmentation surgery<\/strong> for both aesthetic and therapeutic purposes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udf0d<\/strong><strong> Global Surgical Educator &amp; Innovator<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Invited speaker in the U.S., Japan, Egypt, India, and across Europe.<\/li>\n<li>Performed live training surgeries in over 10 countries, including Greece, Georgia, and Bosnia.<\/li>\n<li>Organized the first post-war ophthalmology congress in Sarajevo (1998) and conducted the city\u2019s first modern cataract surgery.<\/li>\n<li>Led educational sessions at ESCRS and ASCRS annual congresses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udfc6<\/strong><strong> Awards &amp; International Recognition<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cBest Paper\u201d at ASCRS (2001), \u201cBest of the Show\u201d at AAO (2002).<\/li>\n<li>Honorary memberships and gold medals from prestigious ophthalmological societies in Bulgaria, India, and Albania.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udf10<\/strong><strong> Medical Leadership<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Co-founder and current President of the <strong>Black Sea Ophthalmological Society (BSOS)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Founding member and former President of the <strong>Southeast European Ophthalmological Society (SEEOS)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udfe5<\/strong><strong> Current Work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prof. Ka\u015fkalo\u011flu continues to lead Ka\u015fkalo\u011flu Eye Hospital alongside his wife, Op.
